Event Recap: January 16 Immigration Panel
On January 16, the Asian Community & Cultural Center in Lincoln hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of immigration. Executive Director of CLIA Mary Choate was joined by ACLU Legal Fellow Dylan Severino and Lutheran Family Services DOJ-Accredited Representative Serign Faal to address critical questions about immigration policies and challenges. The event drew a diverse audience of approximately 40 participants, reflecting the urgency and importance of the topics discussed.
A Space for Honest Questions
The evening’s focus was on providing clear, actionable answers to pressing immigration concerns. Questions ranged from “What do I do if they deport me but my child is a born American citizen?” to other scenarios that underscore the complexities of immigration law. The panelists’ expertise ensured attendees left with insights tailored to their situations.
To protect the privacy of those attending, photography was intentionally limited to rear and side angles. Attendees’ faces were not captured, as many shared sensitive challenges and concerns about their legal status.

The images below highlight key moments from the evening, including slides displaying the ten main questions raised during the discussion.
