Press Release: Free Interpreter Training Offered April 2 – May 7, 2025

Interpreters play a crucial role in bridging language barriers for individuals navigating complex legal and healthcare systems. To support interpreters in building their expertise, the Center for Legal Immigration Assistance (CLIA) is offering a free interpreter training program focused on behavioral health and immigration interpreting.

This specialized training, funded by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), will provide interpreters with the tools they need to effectively and compassionately work with vulnerable populations.

About the Training

This six-week training program is designed for court, medical, and community interpreters who want to deepen their knowledge and refine their skills.

  • When: Wednesdays, 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Dates: April 2 – May 7, 2025

  • Where: CLIA Office – 3049 N 70th St, Lincoln, NE 68507

  • Cost: Free (thanks to VOCA funding)

What You’ll Learn

Participants will receive hands-on training and develop essential skills in:

✅ Working with trauma survivors
✅ Ethical considerations in behavioral health and immigration cases

At the end of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion to recognize their achievement.

How to Register

Space is limited, and we encourage interested participants to register as soon as possible to secure a spot. Currently, the training is full, but we are accepting names for our waitlist. We are looking specifically for attendees who speak Qʼanjobʼal or Vietnamese.
